One of my favorite things is to create something fresh out of an older object that was inexpensive and easily getable.

Here is the recipe for this $35 platform bed.

Ingredients

- 1 Entertainment Center

- 1 Hammer

- 1 Drill/Screw Driver

- 1 Box of 2” Wood Screws

- 4 2x4’s

- 1 or 2 Pieces of Plywood/Partical Board

Steps:

  1. Found a FREE Entertainment Center on LetGo

  2. Measure your mattress length and width.

  3. The 2x4’s need to be 1” less than the mattress. You’ll need 4 or 5. The lumber store should be able to cut the wood as desired. Making it a project without the need of saws.

  4. The plywood should be the same length and width of the mattress for support.

  5. Bring the Entertainment Center into the room to be built. Lay it as desired. Ours was solid Oak so it was super heavy. Work smarter not harder. 🤓

  6. Lay the 2x4’s out in a spacing to ensure stability.

  7. Lay the plywood on top of them. Be sure not to shift the 2x4’s.

  8. Screw in 4 screws per single 2x4 from the top of the plywood into the 2x4.

  9. We did take 4 additional screws to each corner to ensure it’s adhered to the Entertainment Center to keep it from sliding/moving.

  10. Place your mattress on top and dress your new bed.

Note: If your entertainment center is wide enough a boxspring isn’t needed.

Save yourself a few hundred bucks and give this refresh a try.

This is my 2nd one of these and they’re great for those rooms that can’t get a boxspring up to the 2nd floor. True story this happened to me. This time however was a desire to be rid of those darn bedskirts.

So join the bedskirt free party!

Happy Creating!
